  • GP40FH-2 4148 wrecked in Secaucus collision. Rebuilt by CR JLS in 1997 to GP40PH-2B 4219.

  • Units 4184-4192 are owned by MTA Metro-North Railroad, and are operated by NJT in pool service.

  • All Arrow IIIs are being rebuilt, Arrow IIs retired and/or sold.

  • GP40-2s 4300-4303 are not equipped with HEP Generators, and are used in non-revenue service. Units were rebuilt by Conrail's Juniata Locomotive Shop from GP40s, and were acquired by NJ TRANSIT in the U34CH Disposition Program.

  • F40PH-2CATs recieved the following technological improvements : Caterpillar Head End Power Package with cleaner exhaust, less noise, and more fuel efficiency; Diagnostic Computer for troubleshooting; Computer Controlled Cab Signal for safer operation; Dynamic/Blending Brakes for more efficient braking and longer wheel life; Ditch Lights for safety of public at grade crossings
